Am I a good candidate for breast enhancement?
During your consultation, Dr. Partington will discuss your options with you and also assess if you are an ideal candidate for breast enhancement surgery. Since each patient may have different reasons for desiring breast enlargement, your procedure will be customized to suit your individual requirements.
It is also necessary that your hormonal therapy is established before your procedure. Your psychologist or licensed social worker must state in a letter the diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria and that you are now ready for this next exciting step, surgery.
The Procedure
The procedure is similar to female sub glandular breast augmentation. The details of the procedure depend on the patient’s individual needs and the surgery will be customized depending on the elasticity of your skin, anatomy and cosmetic goals.
You have the choice between saline and silicone gel breast implants. These can further be textured or smooth implants and either round or anatomical in shape. The projection of your implants can also vary from low, moderate or high. The doctor will help you optimize your choices.
Dr. Partington will ensure your implants are adjusted for symmetry and natural appearance.
The Recovery
Your surgery will be performed in our highly accredited Surgery Center under twilight anesthesia. Usually the procedure will take about 1-2 hours and you will be discharged after appropriate recovery. You might feel some tightness and pressure on the chest for the first few days which decreases with each day. Pain medication is provided to decrease your discomfort. It is recommended to wear a sports bra for support in the initial days. All heavy lifting must be avoided for a month after surgery. Dr. Partington will offer specific recommendations.
